Our Children’s Liturgy of the Word program is seeking Volunteer Leaders!
This special liturgical program is for children in Kindergarten through the 4th grade and is conducted on most Sundays, September through May, within the 10:00 a.m. Mass. During the program the Word of God is proclaimed and explained on the level of the children after which they participate in activities and enjoy learning about God.
After the Opening Prayer of the Mass the children are summoned by the Priest or Deacon to receive a blessing and then process to the chapel. A teacher leads the children through the Liturgy of the Word and they listen, reflect on who God is and think how they can respond to God. During the preparation of the Eucharistic Gifts the children are escorted to their family’s pew.
Your commitment as a LEADER will be approximately 4-6 Sundays between September and May. Your session preparation time will be no more than sixty minutes following a well prepared leader’s guide and using on-line resources. Leading the session will consist of reading the Epistles and the Gospel; explaining their meaning; and leading a discussion with the children. You will be assisted by a coordinator who will manage the schedule and lead the music. To volunteer or discuss this opportunity please contact Mrs. Suzanne Curran at firstname.lastname@example.org or 215-491-1004.
